Education, clinical practice background and eye care philosophy:

Dr. Bickford has been in the clinical practice of optometry since 1976. He received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (1976) and holds a number of other degrees including BA and BS. In 1994, he completed the post graduate curriculum in the Therapeutic Management of Ocular Diseases. In 1998, Dr. Bickford completed an internship/preceptorship with ophthalmolgists specializing in primary care, retinal and refractive surgery. He has worked in community health clinics and has maintained a private practice in general family practice eye health, vision care and contact lenses in Santa Barbara, CA.

The optometric vision care services provided in his practice include: adult and pediatric vision care, diagnostic and therapeutic eye health care, contact lenses, behavioral and wholistic vision care He employs exercises, vision system training and workspace management along with traditional ophthalmic lens correction as treatment options. Dr. Bickford is involved with fitting and dispensing the latest technolgies in contact lens materials and designs.
